A baby girl in India is being worshipped like a god, thanks to a facial deformity that makes it seem as though she has a trunk for a nose.

According to Asian News International, people are flocking to visit the newborn in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, believing her to resemble the Lord Ganesha.

"Everybody is saying she is an incarnation of the God," the little girl's aunt, named only as Rajani, said. "This is why whoever hears about her is coming here to get a glimpse of the baby and are making whatever offerings possible."

People sang, danced and gave offerings to the baby, who is believed to be perfectly healthy.

The little girl has yet to be named, but locals have dubbed her "Lord Ganpatni", or Ganesha's wife.

Doctors say her 'divine' nose is a result of gene mutation, most likely caused by malnutrition and increased pollution levels.
