Grilled Cajun-style corn on the cob

A side for a weekend braai? Grilling mealies seals in the flavour and the Cajun spice adds to the mouthwatering experience.

Serves 6 Preparation: 10 min Cooking: 20 min

  •  6 mealies
  • 60 ml (¼ c) butter, melted

CAJUN SPICE

  • 5 ml (1 t) salt
  • 10 ml (2 t) garlic powder
  • 12,5 ml (2½ t) paprika
  • 5 ml (1 t) ground black pepper
  • 5 ml (1 t) onion powder
  • 5 ml (1 t) cayenne pepper
  • 7,5 ml (1½ t) dried oregano
  • 7,5 ml (1½ t) dried thyme
  • 2,5 ml (½ t) red chilli flakes

1 Clean and push back the husks of the mealies. Cook the mealies in a pot of boiling water for 8-10 minutes. Drain and place on kitchen paper. Make sure you remove any excess water.

2 Brush with the melted butter. Braai or grill the corn for 10-12 minutes.

3 Cajun spice In a bowl, combine all the Cajun spice ingredients and sprinkle onto the mealies.

4 Serve with melted butter
