Good news for Muggles everywhere! The movie version of J.K Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit cinemas in November 2016.

The film promises to be worth the wait -- J.K Rowling herself will be writing the screenplay.

Unfortunately, the film doesn't mean Harry will be dusting off his wand to return to our screens -- Rowling says it’s not a sequel or a prequel to Harry's adventures. The movie is based on one of Harry and co's prescribed Hogwarts textbooks and will follow the adventures of the book's 'author' and magizoologist Newt Scamander, who devotes his life to the pursuit of magical creatures.

The story will be set in New York, 70 years before Harry’s story starts.

Warner Bros.' Kevin Tsujihara said Fantastic Beasts will "look and feel very similar" to the wizarding world we're used to, even reusing some of the Harry Potter sets built at Warner’s Leavesden Studios in London.

Warner Bros. have yet to announce any of the cast or a director.
