1984

Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales is born.

Harry goes to Italy on his first royal tour.

1988

Harry starts school.

1992

Charles and Diana separate officially in December 1992, after rumours their relationship had been on the rocks for months.

Harry and William were ferreted between their embattled parents, generally fulfilling royal engagements with dad, and going on fun outings with mom. Diana went out of her way to give her boys a sense of normality. Charles and Diana's divorce was finalised in 1996.

Harry is caught smoking marijuana at his father's country home, Highgrove.

Staff noticed the smell and told Charles. Harry was taken to a rehab centre in London, Featherstone Lodge, where he spent the day talking to recovering addicts.

2003

Harry graduates with two A-Levels.

Harry takes a gap year, spending time in both Australia and Lesotho.

Get 'em cowboy! Prince Harry working as a jackaroo (a young cattle herder) at Tooloombilla, Queensland, where he rode with a team mustering herd bulls.

Harry enrols at Sandhurst Military Academy.

Sentebale is a word used by people in Lesotho to say goodbye, and literally means "forget me not" -- as much a reference to Diana as it is to the children the charity aims to help.

He begins training for the war in Iraq.

However, the army decides not to deploy him, believing it would make him an enemy target.

Harry and Chelsy split up.

2008

The army confirms Harry was secretly deployed in Afghanistan for two weeks.

Harry and Chelsy make up.

2009

He begins training as a helicopter pilot.

He and Chelsy split again.

2011

He's awarded his Apache Flying Badge and promoted to captain.

Harry is best man at his brother's wedding to Kate Middleton.
