Jason Rohde is worried about his three daughters – 16-year-old twins and their older sister in matric – and never slept a wink last night.

This is according to the man who was held in custody at the Stellenbosch police cells with Jason last night.

Jason was taken into custody on Tuesday and was brought to Cape Town, where he spent the night in police holding for his bail hearing today. It was postponed until tomorrow.

“He said he was in for alleged murder and he looked very heartbroken,” said that young man who was in the cell with Jason and one other man.

He said Jason was very friendly and spoke English with a little bit of Afrikaans mixed in.

“We didn’t ask about his wife but he did say that he missed his three daughters and was worried about them.”

His daughters are still in Johannesburg, staying with their grandparents.

Jason apparently had food and cigarettes with him, which he shared with his cell-mates.

His bail application hearing is due to take place at 11:30 tomorrow in Stellenbosch.
