The Mother City seems to be popular with A-listers at the moment. Actor Cuba Gooding Jr was spotted in Cape Town earlier this month and British designer Victoria Beckham also hit our shores.

Victoria revealed on Twitter she’s in South Africa to support the charitable organisation Born Free Africa. The organisation says on its website and Twitter profile it wants to eradicate transmission of the HI virus from mothers to their children by the end of December 2015.

Born Free Africa asked Victoria and 22 other designers, including Vera Wang and Donatella Versace, to design clothing for a special fashion range that will be on sale online later this year. The designers are all moms.

On the weekend Victoria (39) tweeted she’d spent time with children from the Lalela Project charitable organisation in Hout Bay. She also visited the Desmond Tutu Foundation.

Posh was spotted at the five-star Mount Nelson Hotel and was recognised emerging at restaurant The Power & the Glory in Tamboerskloof in the Mother City. The person who saw her says she didn’t smile, just pouted as usual. Another source says Victoria spent a few hours in the restaurant.

US photographer Annie Leibovitz (64) is allegedly in Cape Town to photograph some of Madiba’s grandchildren for Vogue and Victoria is said to have been working with her on the photo session.

Professional poker player Erik Seidel, who’s visiting South Africa, tweeted on Saturday he saw Annie doing a photo shoot on Robben Island. “She ended up circling back in her private boat to ferry many of us who were stuck waiting for the last boat, which apparently broke down. 1st family & kids then we were lucky to get on,” he tweeted.
