There is nothing quite as frustrating as having the hiccups – except perhaps if you’re the parents of a child who has the hiccups and can’t stop moaning about it.

There is nothing quite as frustrating as having the hiccups – except perhaps if you’re the parents of a child who has the hiccups and can’t stop moaning about it.

One of our SuperMoms asked for advice on how to beat them – here is what we found.

-        One of the most sworn by theories is to take a deep breath and hold your breath for as long as possible. Have your kids try it – it might just work.

-        Make them drink water. The swallowing is supposed to help ease your throat and help cure your hiccups.

-        Even better, is to block your child’s ears while they drink water.

-        Some people swear by cupping your hands over your mouth and breathing in and out a few times.

-        Make your kids breathe into a paper bag – it is said to relieve hiccups.

-        Kids will love this one! Make them swallow a spoon full of sugar. Some people claim the sweetness changes your diaphragm’s rhythm, which can alleviate hiccups.
