Hilary Duff was “super naughty” when she was younger by sneaking into clubs underage.

The actress and singer first rose to fame as Lizzie McGuire as a teenager. But despite becoming known as a teen icon, she admits she found a way to get into nightclubs, with the help of her older sister Haylie.

“She learned the ropes for me and then I got to just sneak in," Hilary confessed to TIME. "Super naughty! Naughty, naughty. A fake ID would never work for me because they’d be like, 'We know who you are.' I think I had my sister’s old ID."

'I used to lie about my age to get into clubs and stuff'

The 27-year-old now stars in TV show Younger as Kelsey Peters, and sees one of her character’s friends Liza Miller lie about her age. The mother-of-one didn’t mind admitting to the publication that she tried similar tactics in her younger years, not that it would always work.

“Of course! All the time. I used to lie about my age to get into clubs and stuff... but I think they would all know how old I was anyway,” she laughed. “I was pretty well-known by the time I was trying to get into clubs, and they would just let me in anyway."

Hilary missed out on a lot of her formative years with being famous, but she’s getting to experience them through her character in Younger.

“I do feel like she’s just totally normal and relatable, but she’s driven, she’s smart and she’s got it together. And then she can also be a total disaster,” she smiled. “That’s pretty much how women roll right now in their 20s and early 30s. They want the best of both worlds, and they’re willing to deal with the hangovers or the pain of going out and partying the night before."
