Cinnamon-honey granola

A hint of honey and cinnamon make this crunchy granola into a delicious breakfast treat.

Makes about 1 kg

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 g each Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Kellogg’s All-Bran and Kellogg’s Special K
  • 150 g pecan nuts or cashews (or mixed nuts)
  • 50 g sesame seeds100 g each sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • 125 ml (½ c) oil
  • 250 ml (1 c) honey
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 3 ml (heaped ½ t) ground cinnamon
  • 125 ml (½ c) water

METHOD

1. Preheat the oven to 160 °C.

2. Mix together the cereals with the nuts and seeds.

3. Mix the oil, honey, sugar, cinnamon and water in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.

4. Pour the honey mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well. Spread out evenly on baking sheets and bake slowly for about 40 to 60 minutes, turning frequently.

5. Bake until the granola is golden. Switch off the oven and leave the granola in the oven to dry out.

6. Cool and store in airtight containers.

7. Serve with fresh fruit, such as berries, bananas or oranges, and milk, almond milk or rice milk.
