How and where you can pay tribute to Madiba

If you were unable to attend the official memorial service or other public events there are many other opportunities to leave your tributes to Madiba. Here are several venues where you can lay flowers in honour of Nelson Mandela:

Since former president Nelson Mandela’s death on 5 December at his Houghton home, social networks, radio stations, newspapers and broadcast services have been overwhelmed with requests from people who want to pay tribute to him.

Here are several venues where you can lay flowers in honour of Nelson Mandela:

Western Cape

  • In front of the city hall, Cape Town
  • In front of the city hall, Stellenbosch
  • At Nobel Square, V&A Waterfront

  • In front of Madiba’s house on Vilakazi Street, Soweto
  • In front of Madiba’s house in Houghton, Johannesburg
  • At the Union Buildings, Pretoria
  • Sandton Square

Online

There are various online services you can use to pay tribute to Madiba.

  • Fax your tribute in the form of a letter, hand-written note or sketch to 086-406-4444 and it will be handed to the Mandela family.
  • Call Telkom’s Mandela tribute number to leave your voice message in any of the 11 official languages. The calls are free if calling from a Telkom line or Telkom cellphone number. The numbers are: [insert pic here]
