Easy beauty hacks for Insta-ready skin!

It's important first to test the foundation you're interested in buying - not just at the counter but by getting a few samples from several brands to try at home.

Some foundations cater for various skin types, such as oily, dry, mature and skin with pigmentation spots.

Testing the colour

  • Try as foundation in a colour you think matches your skin on your jawline to see if it blends well with your face and neck.
  • Blend the foundation down to your neck.
  • Test about three colours closest to your skin tone.

  • Primer

    • Primer makes your foundation appear flawless and adhere better to your skin.
    • Some primers deal with skin problems before you apply foundation, for example minimising shine if you have oily skin or softening lines if you have wrinkles.

    Sponge

    •  A sponge or 'beauty blender' absorbs foundation but creates a lighter and more natural look compared to a brush and blends foundation well without leaving streaks.

    Brush

    • A brush absorbs less foundation than a sponge but deposits more on the skin, so works well if you need heavier make-up. The downside is it can leave streaks.
