"I am HIV positive."

These were the words of Charlie Sheen in his tell-all interview with Today Show host Matt Lauer, admitting he has known he had the virus for about four years. "I have to put a stop to this barrage of attacks and sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about me that threaten the health of so many others," he said. "[It] couldn't be farther from the truth."

The troubled actor said it was "impossible" that he had transmitted HIV to anyone since diagnosis. "I always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition," he said.

Tabloid editors around the world have been speculating for weeks about a major star who has contracted the disease for weeks, and Britain's The Sun has come under scrutiny after it posted an expose regarding the then unnamed A-List actor, who is reportedly causing "panic" in Hollywood.

The former Two-and-a-Half Men star said he had paid people millions to stay silent over the years.
