What’s the first thing you would do after getting shot by a rampaging gunman?

Isaac Martinez, from Arizona, USA, decided his brush with death was the perfect moment for a selfie.

The 20-year old catering student at East Valley Institute of Technology in Arizona was working at the bistro run by the school when the incident happened yesterday morning. He was approached by the fleeing gunman after his four-hour shooting spree at a motel across the restaurant left one person dead and five others injured.

'Next thing i knew i was hitting the ground'

The gunman reportedly demanded Isaac to hand over the keys to his car.

“Of course i said no, and next was him pulling out a gun and cocking it. Soon as i saw it i started stepping back. And yelled for everyone to step back and get down,” explained Isaac on his Facebook page.

He was shot in the shoulder.

“Next thing i knew i was hitting the ground, got up as fast as i fell, and ran out the back exit. At the same time the assailant had started taking off in my chef instructors car (sic)."

The student immediately took to social network Snapchat where he uploaded his bloody chef uniform. He captioned the photo ‘I just got shot’.

As if that wasn’t gory enough, Isaac uploaded yet another selfie from a hospital bed, his chest exposed revealing his shoulder wound. His Facebook friend Rayitos Rivera soon turned the image into a meme with the caption ‘thug life’.

Ryan Giroux (41), an ex-convict was later arrested after a SWAT team spotted him standing on a balcony of a vacant condo.
