Idris Elba wants to make use of his brain before he dies.

Idris Elba wants to make use of his brain before he dies. The English actor has made a name for himself on the small and big screen and has become a regular fixture in Hollywood. As well as acting duties, Idris is a successful DJ and channelling his creativity into music often helps him unwind.

'I play house music and I've been a DJ in Ibiza the past two summers'

"I play house music and I've been a DJ in Ibiza the past two summers. It's a great outlet. It's my reset button," Idris smiled to British newspaper Metro. "I didn't plan to take it this far. It started as fun, then I decided to try to make a go of it.

"I just want to make the most of my brain before I die! People do come and say hello and want a picture. It can be annoying because they don't realise I'm working on my beats."

Idris' latest movie No Good Deed sees the actor take on a villainous role, as escaped convict Colin. Once free from prison Colin goes on a murderous rampage, terrorising young mom Terry, played by Taraji P. Henson.

"So after Luther [TV show] I'm kind of on the other side of the fence, being big and loose and monstrous. It was a lot of fun but he's a very angry guy. I think we shot for 40 days, a long time to play that real anger. A Jack Daniel's and Coke helped afterwards," he laughed.

While he was shooting No Good Deed, the 42-year-old was also preparing for the biggest role of his life; playing Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

"Here I am getting ready to play one of the greatest men who ever lived in our society, and I'm playing a real dumb-ass. It was a really interesting contrast, to say the least," he revealed.
