Crowds gathered this morning at Church Square in Pretoria to show their support for former finance minister Pravin Gordhan and his former deputy Mcebsi Jonas after they were axed from their positions late last night. Zwelinzima Vavi, under his new party, the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU), was also present at the march. Vavi addressed the crowd, explaining why he believes President Zuma sacked Pravin.

Pravin himself was there to thank his supporters and bid farewell to treasury staff.
The protesters from lobby group Save South Africa sang struggle songs while chanting "Phansi NgoZuma"(Zuma must fall) and "Viva Pravin". Representatives from Save SA told News24 they believe President Jacob Zuma’s cabinet reshuffle was a Gupta coup.
“We must chase Zuma and his cronies out of office. We must make this their final move. We cannot wait any longer. We must take this defense of democracy to the streets,” they said in a statement.
