1. Name of app: Instyle.com Hairstyle Try-On

The app lets you try out a range of celebrity hairstyles on your own photo, share the pics on Facebook, and use the integrated GPS to find a nearby InStyle-approved salon hair salon to get the look you’ve chosen. Apple compatible.

It’s handy for playing around with celebrity and runway-inspired looks!

2. Name of app: Make Up Forever

This app finds online tutorials for you to apply your own make-up appropriate for various occasions. Available for Android and Apple devices.

It’s great because it allows you to choose videos according to how you feel that day in terms of make-up.

Cost: FREE

3. Name of app: FitMe by Maybelline New York

The app helps you find your perfect make-up match in foundation, concealer, powder, blush and bronzer. It works on matching your skin tone with products that will best suit you. Available on Android and Apple.

I think this is great as we have different skin undertones and it can be a bit of a disaster if you’ve splurged on a quality product that doesn’t work for you.

Cost: FREE

Get the app here.

4. Name of app: Mary K Makeover

Customise looks and create a virtual makeover with eye make-up, lip colours, hairstyles, hair colours and accessories. You can save the looks you like and buy them directly through the app. Available for Android and Apple.

It can be fun, but needs to be tweaked to feel more serious and less gimmicky.

Cost: FREE
