It is a peaceful Saturday morning in the Van Niekerk household. As the sun streams in through the lounge windows the couple curl up on their big peppermint-green sofa and start their weekend routine, chilling in front of

the TV with rusks and cups of organic coffee.

This is the sweet life of Isidingo actor Stephen van Niekerk and his wife, Claire. They’ve been married for just more than a year and do “99 per cent of everything together”, Stephen (32) says when we meet them at their cosy home in the scenic hills of Northcliff, Joburg.

“We cook and clean together, change the linen on the bed together . . . We have so much fun and are constantly laughing and joking around,” adds the actor, known to viewers as Isidingo’s nice-guy game ranger, Daniel le Roux.

Stephen and Claire (36), who runs a promotional-events company, love spending time at their home, which they’ve filled with family photographs, comfort-able furniture and rustic wooden touches.

They moved in four months ago and the place is still a work in progress, the actor says. They previously lived in a house in Roosevelt Park from where Claire runs her business. “The problem was we were living at work,” Stephen says.
