It’s July – the royal baby’s birth month!

Kate and William's baby is expected this month and our blogger cannot wait any longer to see if it's a girl or a boy.

With the countdown to the birth of Baby C now starting in all earnest, journalists have already started camping out in front of St Mary’s Hospital in London where the royal baby, like dad William did years ago, will make its appearance in the Lido wing.

Parking near the Lido wing has been closed off from today for “event S0601866”, code for the birth of the third in line to the British throne.

Judging by granddad Charles’ remarks it could be a boy and Uncle Harry has also let slip he believes it’s going to be a boy. But who knows? Except the parents of course who said in a recent statement they’d prefer to keep Baby C’s gender a surprise.

Catherine, who has perfected the art of keeping a low profile, is keeping mum. Her relationship with William was kept under wraps for ages and she’s never put a foot wrong.

The same can’t however be said for her family members. First there’s her flamboyant Uncle Gary, then her brother, James, with his somewhat risqué personalised cakes and not forgetting of course her sister, Pippa, who’s constantly in the news just because she’s Kate’s younger sis.

Over the past weekend William and Catherine allegedly asked Pippa to scale back her social appearances. This isn’t the first time Pippa has been asked to tone it down.

Royal watchers outside Britain are also getting excited. It’s reported from Canada the Niagara Falls will be turned blue or pink, depending on whether the baby is a boy or girl.

I wonder if South Africa will similarly get into the spirit of things and tinge Table Mountain blue or pink to celebrate the event. Being an ardent royal admirer I can only live in hope.
