"I’ve sent someone to kill you. They’re outside in the garden. Look out of the window; can you see them?"

In the weeks leading up to her marriage, Princess Diana became so thin as a result of her bulimia, her wedding ring slipped off her finger.

This intimate detail of the princess’ unhappy marriage to Charles is one of the many that are revealed in a biography about Camilla Parker Bowles, The Duchess: The Untold Story, penned by Penny Juror.

The book will be released to celebrate her 70th birthday next month, reports Daily Mail.

The late princess knew of her husband's infidelity with his now-wife Camilla, the book claims.

It alleges that Diana, who died aged 36, two decades ago this year, even made threatening phone calls to Charles' mistress in the middle of the night.

"Without saying who was calling, she’d typically say: 'I’ve sent someone to kill you. They’re outside in the garden. Look out of the window; can you see them?' " the book claims.

Juror, who conducted interviews with Camilla's friends and family, paints a picture of an increasingly disturbed Diana. "She was very angry, very bitter and very unwell," she writes.

In a previous interview with Daily Mail, Camilla spoke of the furore when the media found out about her affair with Charles while both were still married.

“I couldn’t go anywhere. The children continued as normal, as well as good friends.

“It was awful. It was extremely unpleasant and I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. I wouldn’t have survived it without my family.”

After her divorce from Prince Charles, Princess Diana gave an explosive interview, where she famously said: "There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded."
