Jock's star shines even brighter

Just when we thought the voices for SA’s 3D animated movie Jock of the Bushveld couldn’t get any better, they do: Ted Danson just completed a grueling seven hours recording the voice of Jock’s close friend Pezulu the rooster.

Best remembered for his role as central character Sam Malone in the sitcom Cheers, long time environmental advocate Danson was an obvious choice for the movie.

Alongside Danson we will hear Helen Hunt as Jess, Jock’s mom; Donald Sutherland as the narrator; Bryan Adams as Jock, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, cast in a cameo role as the voice of the spiritual leader; and many other well-known voices.

Award-winning German composer Klaus Badelt is also bringing his talents to bear on the movie, creating a full orchestral underscore to complement and link the songs specially written for Jock by Bryan Adams, Alan Menken, Johnny Clegg, Craig Hinds and others.

Jock of the Bushveld will premier on local screens on July 29, 2011.
