John Cleese is convinced working on a movie now would kill him.

John Cleese is convinced working on a movie now would kill him. The Monty Python star (74) has no aspirations to write another movie following A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures, insisting it's "too much like hard work". And he's convinced if he were to try he might not live to see the project come to light.

'It is two-and-three-quarter years and I am too old for that process. If I started on it now I would die'

“It is two-and-three-quarter years and I am too old for that process. If I started on it now I would die," he told UK newspaper The Mirror.

The comedian is certain he only has "five or six years left" before he's "gone".

And he''s looking forward to not having to stress about all that's wrong in the world

“I won’t have to worry about ISIS or Ebola, I am looking forward to it," he said, musing: "Most of the best people are dead – I will be in excellent company having a wonderful time.”

John is currently promoting his autobiography So, Anyway..., which he wrote in pencil in just four months. That, project, in contrast, filled him with joy.

“I settled down to write it and it was the most enjoyable thing I’ve done for years," the star said. "A great deal of the time I made myself laugh.”

While work has cooled off in recent years, John also confessed he hasn't kept in touch with most of his Monty Python co-stars.

And he's completely accepted they'll never be "huge friends".

“The key to understanding Python now is we have all driven off in completely different directions," he explained.

“Michael [Palin], as you know, makes those travel programmes that I put on any time I can’t sleep.

"Eric Idle is very good at lyrics so he is writing songs. Terry Gilliam is off trying to raise money for one of his plotless extravaganzas.

“And Jonesy [Terry] is just insane – he writes children’s books and recently went to Lisbon and directed an opera about vacuum cleaners," he said.
