Justin Theroux feels like a "fake dad".

Justin Theroux feels like a "fake dad". The actor stars in HBO show The Leftovers, an apocalyptic-style drama that sees two percent of the world's population wiped out. As police chief Kevin Garvey, he has to juggle his job with raising two teenagers, played by Margaret Qualley and Chris Zylka.

'The strange thing is that I've already started to feel oddly parental towards my onscreen children'

As the fiancé of Jennifer Aniston, he's currently having to put up with rumours about when they will get married and have babies. But the 43-year-old already feels like a parent to his onscreen children.

"The strange thing is that I've already started to feel oddly parental towards my onscreen children," he laughed to the latest edition of British Marie Claire magazine.

"They've just moved to New York for the show and I've got a little protective, making sure they get home OK. I find myself checking in on them at the weekend - are you doing alright? Did you work that out? Wait, when are you moving? Who's moving you? I'm a real protective fake dad."

Jennifer, 45, recently spoke out about the constant media attention surrounding whether or not she will have babies, insisting it's "unfair".

And Justin says the couple already have their hands full with their pet chickens, anyway.

"They're just like kids really," he joked.

"Though I think they're better behaved. And you get beautiful fresh eggs every morning."

Happily for the pair the 'parental' duties are evenly shared - the couple always collect their offspring's produce together, calling it a "joint effort".

As for the tabloid rumours, Justin has just as little time for them as his gorgeous wife-to-be. He never looks at gossip pages and often finds it's other people stopping him on the street and congratulating him on a wedding or pregnancy he knows nothing about.

"It's like having your own cartoon strip constantly running that you can't control," he sighed.
