Do you battle to find things in the mess on your bedroom floor? Try these five tips to help you keep your room neat.

Do you battle to find things in the mess on your bedroom floor? These five tips will help you keep your room neat:

  1. Get motivated. Something must get you going. Some people like making lists of things to do and ticking them off when they’re done. Perhaps you need to reward yourself with a TV programme when your room is tidy. Other people need music to get themselves into a tidying mood. Find out what works for you.
  2. Everything in its place. Every item in your bedroom belongs in a specific place. For example, a specific drawer for underwear and a shelf for your schoolbooks. Put everything in its place.
  3. Throw out! If you have too many items of clothing in your wardrobe or too many half-empty deodorant containers they’re sure to make your room look untidy. Go through your wardrobe, hygiene products and toys. If there’s anything you last used more than a year ago throw it out or donate it to a charity.
  4. Routine, routine. Your room will remain tidy only if you tidy it regularly. The easiest way of doing this is to make it a part of your daily routine. For example, make your bed before leaving for school every morning and put your dirty clothes in the laundry basket as soon as you take them off. Get these and other tasks done daily and you won’t have to give up a Saturday afternoon to tidy your room!
  5. Get a laundry basket. Nothing looks more untidy than dirty clothes lying on your bedroom floor. Ask your mom for a laundry basket for your room. You can empty it into the family laundry basket once a week.
