An hour and seven minutes devoted to helping others – that’s what’s asked of you on Mandela Day.

It happens once a year. On that day you’re asked to devote just 67 minutes of your time to making

someone happy.

It’s almost International Mandela Day again and this year organisers are hoping the outpouring of love and understanding on 18 July will surpass anything seen in previous years.

The day aims to capture the spirit of statesmanNelson Mandela who selflessly dedicated his life to the liberation of South Africa’s oppressed during the apartheid era.

This is how Kurt is helping:

Singer Kurt Darren has teamed up with Extreme Fishing and will take a group of about 10 underprivileged boys camping and fishing on his farm near Naboomspruit in Limpopo.

The camping trip will take place on 11 and 12 July, a few days before the official Mandela Day celebrations.

Kurt hopes to give the boys an experience of a lifetime and will keep them entertained with an exclusive fishing experience.

How you can get involved?

If there are boys in the Pretoria region whom you’d like to nominate for the trip e-mail their details and the reasons why you think they should win to madibaday@you.co.za. The winners will be selected in a lucky draw.
