If you’re addicted to chocolate you can now sniff it like a drug.

If you’re addicted to chocolate you can now sniff it like a drug.

The new fad was dreamed up in Belgium by Dominique Persoone, of The Chocolate Line, after Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts of the rock band The Rolling Stones asked him to come up with something original for their birthday party.

You use a special machine that makes it possible to sniff the chocolate, according to Dominique’s website. Dominique says you get a “chocolate explosion” and points out recent research shows how important the sense of smell is when it comes to tasting food.

More than 25 000 chocolate-sniffing machines have been sold all over the world.

It’s well known that when chocolate is eaten it causes the feel-good hormone dopamine to be released. Some doctors have warned that if chocolate is sniffed too vigorously it could get into the lungs, damage the mucus membranes of the nose or cause allergic reactions.

It’s alleged that if the chocolate is sniffed correctly it ends up at the back of the throat, where it provides a really special sensation.
