After hours of practising and three live shows on national TV, last night saw the first person voted out of Strictly Come Dancing.

Musician L’vovo and his partner, Mary Martins, were evicted from the competition.

YOU spoke to him exclusively minutes after he left the show. “I’m a little disappointed,” the clearly upset contestant told us. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and I worked hard and I’m proud.”

Dance partner Mary is still beaming with pride, despite the result. “He did a stellar job and we pushed and did our best,” she told us.

The viewers’ votes were combined with the judges’ scores and L’vovo had to do a dramatic dance-off with fellow celebrity contestant Kuli Roberts and her partner, Sylvester Sefotlhelo. Although the musician was a firm favourite with the crowd it was eventually Kuli who got the final nod from the judges.

“I’m going to go back to what I am good at now – music,” L’vovo told us, laughing.

Contestants are practising every day and say they’re working tirelessly to stay in the competition. “It’s tough; it’s gruelling,” Isidingo actress Jay Anstey told us. Actress Connie Ferguson agrees, “It takes up a lot of your time and many days I’m so exhausted I don’t know what to do with myself.”

From next week somebody will be evicted from the show every week. Remember, your votes count and you have a say about who stays and who goes.
