Ebrahim Ebrahim pays tribute to Nelson Mandela.

ACTIVIST WHO WAS SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS ON ROBBEN ISLAND, NOW SA’S INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS DEPUTY MINISTER

When I was finally released in 1991 Mandela came over to Ahmed Kathrada’s brother’s place and we had lunch. He said he was very happy that I was out of prison and that he expected to see me at the ANC office the very next day! He was a workaholic and he expected people around him to be workaholics as well. But he was a very friendly person to work with – he would always enquire about your health, your family, how you were doing, and you could go and see him in his office any time you wanted.
