Make special cards with your kids

Eye love you

What you need:

  • Cardboard (available from Checkers in a range of colours)R16,99
  • Googly eye R11,50 for pack of 15, Merry Pak & Print
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape or craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Heart punch, optional

Step 1

Cut the cardboard to the size you want it to be. Fold in half.

Step 2

Place the googly eye in position on the front of the card and trace the position with a pencil.

Carefully cut out the circle; this can be a bit tricky so make sure to help young children. Trace the position of the eye on the inside of the card. Draw a person around the position of the eye on the inside of the card with the marker, and stick the eye in place with double sided tape or craft glue.

Step 3

Punch or cut a hart shape from different coloured cardboard.

Stick it on the front of your card in the centre and write the word “you” with the marker.

Fingerprint hearts

What you need:

  • A4 sheet of cardboard R14,99
  • Scissors
  • Washi tape (optional) R28, Merry Pak& Print
  • Ink pad with ink
  • Alphabet stamps or marker

Step 1

Cut the cardboard to the size you want it to be. Fold it in half.

Step 2

Decorate the border of the card with Washi tape.

Step 3

Use the stamps or marker to write your message.

Step 4

Use your finger to stamp heart shapes on the card. Simply ink your index finger on the inkpad and create a heart shape with two prints placed diagonally. If you’re unsure, practise on a scrap piece of paper – it’s really easy.

Send a hug

What you need:

  • 3 x A2 sheets of cardboard R19,99 for 5 sheets
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Markers
  • Double-sided tape
  • Postal tube R7,20, Marry Pak & Print

Total cost at Checkers = R19,99

Step 1

Stick the 3 sheets of paper together with the double-sided tape on the short sides to form one long sheet.

Step 2

Let your child lie on the sheets with his/her arms stretched out, and trace the shape of their hands, arms, shoulders and head. Cut it out.

Step 3

Let your child draw a face on the cut-out and write a message on the chest. area.

Step 4

Roll it up and send it to a loved one in a postal tube.
