A lawyer for the van Bredas has confirmed that a trust was set up for Marli and her 20-year-old brother Henri, the only surviving members of the family after a brutal axe attack.

Martin and Theresa van Breda, as well as their 22-year-old son Rudi, were hacked to death in their home at the De Zalze Golf Estate in January.

Marli van Breda (16) sustained a serious head injury in the attack, while Henri got away with minor injuries.

Lawyer Martin Coetzee says Marlie is currently in a rehabilitation clinic and showing remarkable progress.

Coetzee says she knows that her parents and her brother are dead.

Reports over the weekend claimed that Marli and Henri will inherit a R200 million property.

Their father Martin was a successful businessman in both South Africa and Australia.

Martin says he knows there is a trust, but he does not know how many survivors will inherit.

"The trust trustees, and they are represented by a lawyer assisted in Pretoria, so they handle all the updates regarding the finances."

According to Martin, the trust covered Marli's medical and legal costs.

No one has been arrested in connection with the murders.
