Jewellery was stolen from Miley Cyrus' home on Friday - the day before the singer's 21st birthday.

Miley Cyrus' house was burgled on Friday.

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker - who turned 21 on Saturday - is said to be "really shaken up" after an intruder got into her Studio City home some time in the afternoon and made off with "personal items". A source told Us Weekly: "She's extremely upset and a lot of personal items were stolen. She's really shaken up about the whole thing." According to website TMZ, jewellery was taken from the property.

Police are currently investigating the crime and say it is unclear how the intruder was able to get into Miley's home, which was unoccupied at the time of the break-in.

Despite the upsetting incident, Miley isn't letting it ruin her birthday and has already taken to twitter to share her plans on her special day.

Tweeting a picture of her four dogs, she wrote: "All I could want on my birthday."

And posting a picture of herself in a woolly hat and leather jacket, she wrote: "Soooooo close to birrrrfdayyyyy time thank you @marcjacobsintl for my early bday pressie (sic).
