What’s it about?

A virile young country music artist falls for a washed-up singer. The problem is her husband, who’s also her manager, is in the way.

Who will enjoy it?

More people than just fans of country music whose idea of a good time at the weekend is a barn dance! This movie has depth and amounts to more than a string of country hits.

It shows why people are drawn to the country culture and reveals what happens behind the scenes in the music world. It explores the tears, pitfalls of fame and temptations of short-lived relationships and drugs without resorting to stereotypes or sensationalising.

The film looks in great depth at how the lifestyle can take its toll – especially when the personalities of the people involved aren’t strong enough to survive the pressures of the music industry.

But the main theme is the music – the characters reveal who they truly are when they make music. The real star is Garrett Hedlund as the charming, likeable Beau who loses his heart to a singer (Paltrow).

And Paltrow shows why she has a reputation as an experienced actress who can play (or sing) any role. Even if country music isn’t your thing the love stories and charming leads will entertain you thoroughly.
