Movie of the week: The Descent, Part 2

What’s it about?

One girl survives when a group of friends are terrorised by scary ghosts in underground caves. This time she organises an expedition to help search for her friends. But worse torture awaits.

Who will enjoy it?

The first movie had people so paranoid some fled from theatres. The second chapter is just as scary, if not worse. So if the underground hell of the first one had you shivering with fright this second assault on your senses might seem

like torture. People who suffer from claustrophobia or get neurotic in the dark should preferably avoid this bewildering onslaught. However if the first movie made you dizzy with excitement the second will truly fan the flames of horror.

Wait for DVD?

Definitely not. About 70 per cent of this movie happens underground, with just a bit of torchlight to keep the darkness at bay, so you prob-ably won’t be able to make out much if you watch it on DVD. Yet there’s something masochistic about watching from the safety of your cinema seat as the expedition members crawl through tiny openings and dodge falling rocks. This sequel is a harrowing watch and the claustrophobic passages the guys and girls go through will make you feel as if the air has been squeezed from your lungs. Prepare for a horrifyingly realistic experience! Definitely worth watching.
