What’s it about?

An ordinary couple’s marriage is in trouble after the husband brings home a promiscuous tomboy – but he really just wants to help her.

Who will enjoy it?

Film fans who think for themselves and don’t put their fingers in just any old popcorn box.

This movie requires a brain that’s fully charged as it demands your undivided attention. So if you’re up for it, surrender yourself to this human drama that celebrates caring, dedication and love.

There are no soapie-style, audience-friendly story twists so don’t expect to be able to predict what will happen.

Each scene sends the film in a new, motivated direction that gives some of America’s top actors – especially Oscar-winner Melissa Leo – a chance to sink their teeth into a decent role.

The movie puts a firm focus on the issue of taking responsibility for where your life is going, and Kristen Stewart – in her best role yet, miles from her stony-faced Twilight character – beautifully brings to life a confused, tortured girl’s confrontation with her own weaknesses.

Although the story is slow-moving it’s enormously rewarding for those who stay the distance.

A solid and difficult but excellent watch.
