Nicola Pienaar's body was found yesterday.

According to reports, Nicola Pienaar was expecting a baby.

The 28-year-old's body was found in a shallow grave in the backyard of a friend yesterday, after she went missing on 5 January.

At the time of her death,  Nicola, a psychologist’s assistant, had been almost six months pregnant, private investigator Paul Scheepers told HeraldLive.

Yesterday Paarl police confirmed that Nicola’s body had been found in the yard of their main suspect’s house in Paarl. But they declined to say if Nicola’s boyfriend, Jacobus Johannes Oosthuizen (32), was the main suspect.

On Tuesday, mother Marlaine Pienaar-Vice told YOU Nicola's mother she could not confirm that her daughter was expecting.

"We are waiting for the post-mortem examination to determine anything. If my daughter really was pregnant, it could not have been Jaco's child. They only met in December. "

Oosthuizen was arrested last week in Port Elizabeth, where he had reportedly been hoping to reconcile with a former lover. He was found driving Nicola's car.

Marlaine previously said to News24 that she believed her daughter would be found. "Miracles never cease to happen," she said at the time.
