Local sensation Matthew Mole just wed his sweetheart Jessica in a beautiful ceremony in Cape Town in August, but he's got another VERY big day coming up. The indie crooner is opening for international pop star Carly Rae Jepsen on her SA tour later this month. He spoke to YOU in the run up to what promises to be a stellar performance.

It's not every day you get the opportunity to open for a major international act at a concert but for Matthew, it's just another notch on his performance belt. Having opened for a number of other acts previously, including the likes of Bastille and The Fray, Matthew will be one of the opening acts for Carly Rae Jepsen at both the Cape Town and Pretoria shows.

Our wedding photographs arrived yesterday and they are incredible. @ladandlassphotography are perfect ??

Q: How do you feel about being an opening act for Carly Rae Jepsen?

A: It's a really great opportunity. She's massive in terms of fame, so it'll be really good for me. It's going to be loads of fun.

Q: How did you go about being an opening act for her and why do you think you were asked?

A: The promoters mailed and asked if I would be keen, and I was! I'm not sure if Carly Rae Jepsen had any idea, but I still think it's an amazing opportunity.

Q: Are you a fan of hers?

A: I'm a fan of the fact that she has so many hits, it's a lot harder than people think. I'm looking forward to seeing how they sounds live.

Q: What is your favourite Carly Rae Jepsen song and why?

A: Her latest single, Run Away With Me, is really well put together. It's also a big step up from her previous 2 singles.

Q:What can we expect from your set? Anything new?

A: Lots of new, some old. I'm trying out some of the new stuff I've been writing. I'll definitely play lots of my first stuff too though.

Q: Specifically for big gigs like these, how do you go about preparing for them?

A: Crowd interaction is super important and I think it's a bit harder for much bigger shows. So I'm just trying to make sure things flow are going to flow

properly. I'll prepare certain songs in ways that can get the crowd involved.

Q: Meeting Carly Rae Jepsen, what’s the first thing you asked her/will ask her?

A: I'd ask her for a photo, then post it online and make the caption "I really really really really like this photo!" That was my tour managers idea.

Q: What are you most excited about regarding this opportunity?

A: It's really big to have this kind of show on my portfolio. But it's always a crazy experience being exposed to massive South African audiences. That's

going be fun!

Q: Do you have any life experiences or happenings that spark a Carley Rae Jepsen song to come to mind?

A: Not yet, but let's see if anything comes up.

The I Really Like You and Call Me Maybe singer will perform at Grand Arena, GrandWest Casino, Cape Town on 21 October 2015 and the Monument Amphitheatre, Pretoria on 24 October 2015 as part of her E.MO.TION album release in South Africa. Featuring as her opening acts included our very own Matthew Mole and ChianoSky.
