Shops closed on Sunday out of respect for Madiba

Shoppers planning to do Christmas shopping this Sunday will have to reschedule: many shops will be closed on 15 December out of respect for Madiba who will be on Sunday in Qunu, in the Eastern Cape.

Among the stores that will be closed are Clicks, Woolworths, Makro, Builders Warehouse, Game, Shoprite and Checkers. Virgin Active will also be closed.

It’s uncertain if Pick & Pay will be closed. A spokesperson said yesterday they were consulting clients and staff on trading hours on Sunday.

Normal trading hours for public holidays will apply to Monday 16 December.
