"It is so unnecessary and uncalled for. Those two people are angels."

The shocking rumours have followed the headmaster and his wife around like a dark cloud since Sunita and Jacques van Dyk's deaths -- and Eloise le Roux's mother says it's been a nightmare for her daughter and son-in-law.

"They're going through hell," Mariana Symington told YOU.

Eloise and her husband, Danie le Roux, principal of Paarl Gymnasium Primary School, have been in the news in recent weeks, thanks to their conection to Sunita and Jacques, who died when their house burnt down in the early hours of 10 May.

After this tragedy, rumours surfaced that Sunita, a teacher, and Danie had been having an affair.

Danie said in an exclusive interview with YOU that there was absolutely no truth in the rumours. Eloise said in the same interview she knew her husband and did not doubt him. She and Sunita were like sisters, she added, and the couples often spent time together.

Mariana said they are very sad about all the claims.

"This is false. It is so unnecessary and uncalled for. Those two people are angels," she says.

Danie said earlier in the school's newsletter, Kitsnuus, that he had crossed a professional line "with someone he mentored" and was sorry about that.
