Police have refused to comment on reports that Rapulana Seiphemo had been hijacked when his vehicle collided with another car on the N14 in Johannesburg earlier this month.

This weekend The Sunday Independent reported the two men who were in the car with the Generations The Legacy star, one of whom perished in the crash, may have been hijackers.

The survivor is said to be under police guard in hospital, after reportedly trying to escape.

The Star reported the man has now been charged for suspected hijacking.

“All I know is that he has been arrested and charged. This I can confirm,” their unnamed source said.

The Independent identified the men as residents of Mamelodi in the east of Pretoria, adding they were apparently strangers to 48-year-old actor

Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng had told the paper that three cases of culpable homicide had been opened and police were collecting statements from witnesses.

Last week Sunday, Rapulana's Audi A3 collided with a Toyota Corolla near Diepsloot. The driver of the Corolla, Donovan Van Zyl (24), died on the scene.

His brother-in-law Jerry Coertze (28) died from his injuries in hospital the following morning. The third passenger, Donovan's brother Jody (25), survived.
