The 35-year-old succumbed to her injuries.

After more than a week of fighting for her life in a Pretoria hospital, Belinda Louw succumbed to her injuries.

The 35-year-old died this past weekend in Muelmed Hospital, Captain Coba Britz confirmed to Maroela Media.

"I cannot say exactly when she died, but the investigation in the case is currently with the forensic investigators."

Heavily pregnant Belinda was waiting near the carwash of a Sasol filling station in Gezina on Saturday 13 August when a carwash employee lost control of a vehicle ploughed into her.

According to Sasol spokesperson Alex Anderson, Belinda was in the waiting area while her car was being washed.

A Sasol employee was trying to maneuver a Toyota Fortuner from the washing area to vacuuming area when he lost control.

“The employee, who was not authorised to move the vehicle, decided to drive the vehicle without permission and in violation of the franchise’s policies,” Anderson said.

Belinda was 38 weeks pregnant with her son, who would have been born by Caesarean section today.

She and her fiancé, Corné Hitge, were going to call him Ryan.

The car washer was due to have a disciplinary hearing at the petrol station in Gezina this morning. When YOU visited the station earlier, manager  Eduan van As said they are not sure what time it will take place, as they are waiting for feedback from the labour department.

Last Saturday after the incident, devastated Corné wrote on his Facebook page: “Let my son rest softly at Your feet, Lord, and please help my darling through this time. Amen.”

Corné has since changed his Facebook bio to simply read, "CRUSHED".
