They may be Monegasque royals, but their mother intends to keep them in touch with their South African roots.

Princess Charlene of Monaco has revealed that 15-month-old adorable twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella are being taught four languages, including Afrikaans and IsiZulu.

“I speak to them in English and French‚ as well as a bit of Afrikaans and Zulu,” the Benoni-raised beauty told Johannesburgs East's Get It magazine.

This comes after her husband Prince Albert recently told People magazine that the tots “have already begun talking.”

“It’s a little sketchy still. They say ‘mom,’ ‘daddy,’ ‘maman,’ ‘papa,’ ‘baby’ and ‘hello,’” said Albert.

The Monarch sovereign also revealed that the twins enjoy listening to the classic children’s songs 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' and 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' along with some French nursery rhymes.

In the Get It interview, conducted when the Bulawayo-born royal was in the country to celebrate her father Mike's 70th birthday, she also revealed that she looks forward to bringing Prince Jacques to South Africa for his first rugby game.

"My hopes and dreams for Gabriella and Jacques are that they are happy and healthy. I will always love them and be proud of them," said the former Olympic swimmer, adding that being a mother has changed her life.

"They are a gift from God for sure, and they are the light of my life."

The royal also touched on her marriage to Prince Albert.

"Being a wife to a husband who loves and respects me is a wonderful gift."

On the future of South Africa, Princess Charlene said she is "very optimistic" about it.

"South Africans are kind and friendly. They carry happy faces all the time and are warm and welcoming and that is what I love about our country.

They always have the ability to pick up and get on with it!”
