An Australian golfer was met with a nasty surprise when he came across a scrub python at the Paradise Palms golf course in Cairns in north Queensland  recently. Robert Willemse was on the 17th hole when he noticed the giant snake devouring an entire wallaby on a nearby freeway. He immediately rushed closer to the action.

“It had (the wallaby) in a vice-like grip and it was swallowing it,”  an excited Robert said according to The Telegraph. It’s speculated that the enormous python fell from a tree onto the golf course where it found and started to devour its prey.

A fascinated Robert snapped a few photo's before resuming his game of golf.

"I heard later on... as other golfers and staff members came out to have a look at it, that it did actually succeed in swallowing it all and then it rolled into a dry creek nearby and slithered away into the bush, probably to digest its rather large meal," he added.

Experts told the BBC that the scrub python was the largest predator in Australia and that it can easily devour an animal as large as a crocodile.

Talk about a, well, slithery situation!
