Rapulana Seiphemo is in a critical but stable condition at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg after being involved in a car crash on Sunday night.

It's understood the Generations The Legacy star was travelling on the N14 near Diepsloot in Soweto last night when the vehicle he was travelling in collided with another car. Two people were killed in the collision and three others seriously injured, The Citizen reports. “We would like to request that we all afford the family space to deal with the trauma," Generations The Legacy’s Public Relations manager, Gaaratwe Mokhethi said. "Rapulana is a fighter, he’ll definitely pull through."

The South African Broadcasting Company (SABC) spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said the broadcaster hopes 48-year-old Rapulana will recover soon.

"We saddened that it [the crash] happened at the time when we are trying to make sure Generations retain its number one spot."

“We have been to the hospital to see him.”

Family spokesperson Mduduzi Sikhakhane confirmed the news, adding that today has been an incredibly difficult time for the family as they wait for more information from the doctors.

In a statement, medical care provider ER24 has said of the accident:

"Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, both critically injured patients were airlifted by a private medical helicopter to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The two remaining patients were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations."
