In what appears to be a real-life version of the 1990 movie Home Alone, an 11-year-old boy left home alone with his 4-year-old sister shot and killed a intruder who repeatedly tried to break into their home.

Police in St Louis in the US, where the incident took place, stated that a 16-year-old intruder had been trying to break into the home occupied by the brother and sister. The 16-year-old boy, whose identity is protected, was shot in the head while trying to break into the house for the third time in one day.

Police believe that he was shot by the brave 11-year-old who was trying to protect himself and his four-year-old sister, who were left home alone. Police found the teenager’s body in the front foyer of the home with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police are now communicating with the parents to determine why the two young children were left home alone and also why the 11-year-old had access to a handgun.

Fortunately, both young children are unharmed.
