A restaurant in North Carolina in America offers diners discount if they pray aloud before tucking into their meal, HLN reports.

Mary’s Gourmet Diner offers a 15 per cent discount if you visibly pray, and registers the fact on your till slip under “Praying in public”.

Diner Jordan Smith confirmed to HLN she and two colleagues had indeed been given a discount when they ate at the restaurant recently.

Mary Haglund, the owner of Mary’s Gourmet Diner, told Fox News the offer has been running for four years and that it’s not necessarily about faith, but rather gratitude.

The Christian radio station Z88.3 in Florida, America, posted a picture of a till slip on their Facebook page, where it’s already attracted more than 9 000 “likes”. About 4 700 people have shared the picture.
