The actress first appeared as Sami — the resident bad girl — on Days in 1993 when she was just 16.

Over the next 20 years she won the hearts of soap fans around the world. In 2002, she the Special Fan Emmy Award for America's Favorite Villain and was nominated in 2015 for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.

Then in 2014 she shocked her fans when she announced she was leaving the soap after 21 years, saying she wanted to spend more times with her kids, daughter Megan (then 5) and son Benjamin (then 9) and scale back on her work commitments (she was the host of NBC's popular weight-loss show, The Biggest Loser).

"For seven years I’ve done both shows,” she said at the time. “I’m really just excited to be with my kids and be with my husband [David Sanov] and, I don’t know, have fun. And I write. My second book’s coming out. I love directing and just, you know, finding things to do."

She also admitted that while she's never had so much as a two-week vacation in that whole time, she loved her character and the show. "It's awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans—I love everything about it."

Clearly the love affair is not quite over yet. Welcome back, Sami!
