But before you reach for your wallet and the phone to make a booking... The most affordable bed in this hotel – and that’s off-peak season – will set you back a massive R12 000!

But if this rate doesn’t scare you and you’re looking to kick back in The Silo’s penthouse over the next festive season expect your bulging purse to be relieved of at least R140 000 a night.

The new development is set within the historical grain silo complex in the Waterfront – it attracts 24 million visitors every year – and will also accommodate the brand-new Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA).

The designer is well-known London architect Thomas Heatherwick and the developers are hoping that in time the grain elevator building and Cape Town will become as synonymous as the Eiffel Tower and Paris.

The Silo is expected to open its doors on 1 March next year.
