South Africa’s boerewors champion to be crowned this weekend

After four months the ten provincial winners of the Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors competition will go head to head.

After four months, 1000 contestants, two elimination rounds, 400 judges and 55 000 pieces of boerewors, the ten provincial winners of the Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors competition will go head to head at Sun City this weekend.

On 6 October during Skouspel weekend six of South Africa’s top foodies will decide who will drive off in a brand new Toyota Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body Raider as the 2012 Boerewors Champion.

Die new 2012 Championship Boerewors will be available from 12 October in the Meat Markets at Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores countrywide.

The ten finalists are: 

• Eastern Cape – Aletta Rachman, from St Francis Bay.

• Free State – Wiekus Vorster from Bloemfontein.

• Gauteng – Quinton Rossouw, from Kempton Park.

• Gauteng – Chantelle Gouws, from Vanderbijlpark.

• KwaZulu-Natal – Piet Nkambule, from Newcastle.

• Limpopo – Koos van Dyk, from Polokwane.

• Mpumalanga – Mary Mkhabela, from Mashishing.

• North West – Michael Webster, from Klerksdorp.

• Northern Cape – Gielie van Zyl, from Kimberley.

• Western Cape – Cathrine Groeners, from Kranshoek in Plettenberg Bay.
