Office job? Being stuck behind a desk all day can do a number on your health -- prolonged sitting has been directly associated with chronic lifestyle diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Here are some simple tips for keeping healthy when you're on the clock.

If you have a desk job you could be at risk of developing a lifestyle disease. “Prolonged sitting has been directly associated with chronic lifestyle diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure and high  cholesterol,” says Dr Candice Christie, head of the department of human kinetics and ergonomics at  Rhodes University. “Sitting at your desk for too long affects blood circulation and can cause stiffness  and biomechanical imbalances due to the larger muscle groups overcompensating for the under-use of  lesser muscle groups,” Cape Town sports therapist Lindsey Yves adds. Here are some simple tips for keeping healthy when you're on the clock.
