Stuffed bacon-wrapped onion rolls

This is perfect as an appetizer or as a side dish - especially for a braai.

Serves 4-6

Preparation time: 30 min

Cooking time: about 30 min

10-20 small onions

10-20 whole garlic cloves, peeled

10-20 glacé cherries

100 g butter

30 ml (2 T) chopped fresh herbs

250 m l (1 c) grated Cheddar cheese

10-20 bacon rashers

Cut off the tip of each onion and remove the layers in the middle.

Put a garlic clove and cherry inside each onion.

Mix the butter, herbs and cheese and spoon into the onions.

Wrap a bacon rasher around each onion, securing the end with a cocktail stick.

Wrap in aluminium foil and braai among the coals until cooked. 5 Serve hot.
