A popular teacher at a school in Whatcom County, Washington shot and killed her husband and 17-month-old son in their sleep. She then turned the gun on herself, wounding herself in the shoulder.

Erin Agren (43) was found two days later in their home by an estate agent, lying in a confused state next to the bodies of her husband and son.

She was rushed to hospital where she confessed to police that she wanted to wipe out her family.

The estate agent, Steve Mullenix, took potential buyers to the home on Sunday afternoon. The house has been on the market for a while.

When they arrived at around 3 pm Steve heard screams coming from the main bedroom. He went to investigate and found Erin.

It’s now alleged she was mentally disturbed and suffered from paranoia among other things. She and her husband, Michael Jordan (59), were both teachers at Lummi Nation, a public school near their home.

Shortly after the tragedy the school wrote on its Facebook page, “Lummi Nation School is deeply saddened by the loss of an incredibly dedicated and beloved teacher. Our thoughts, prayers and love go out the family and to the students and staff.”

Erin, who’s facing two charges of murder, is still being treated in hospital. Police are trying to establish the motive for the killings.

The couple had been married for less than two years. Erin has no previous criminal record.
